I'm going to go catch the June weekend series when Beloit is in town, I think.

I HAVE to see Miguel Sano.

More on RHP Tommy Toledo, this time from Bob Brainerd at sports32.com. Brainerd did several nice Rattlers write-ups last year as well.

Who's bigger among the locals? Hunter Morris in Huntsville or Fond du Lac's Chad Pierce in Appleton?

INF Brandon Macias is the featured Rattler in this week's Post-Crescent Profile

I enjoyed this question and answer, makes you realize why success in the low-rookie Arizona Summer League can be tough for batters:

Q: You struggled a little bit in Arizona rookie ball last year, but when you moved up to Wisconsin you played much better. Why do you think that was?

A: "I don't know. I guess just the feel of it. Just playing at all those spring training fields — growing up, I was playing summer ball there when I was younger. I just felt more comfortable (in Appleton) — big crowds, just having that atmosphere. It was just different. Plus it was tough to hit in that league. You have guys throwing 96 (mph), 98, but all over the place. Here, people are around the zone a lot more and I think that might be part of the reason why I started to hit a little better here."

Via a Chris Mehring tweet, here's an interview Matt Salmon did with Drew Gagnon for ESPNMilwaukee: http://www.stationcaster.com/player_ski ... 2&f=507161

Fun fact: Drew has pitched at Fenway Park! ('10 Cape Cod ASG)

You guys know I'm a sucker for our Brewers signed initially from the independent ranks (remember this feature?), so I'm thrilled at how interesting and easy to read the latest Post-Crescent player profile article is.

Feature Profile: Timber Rattlers' RHP Mark Williams

By the way, regarding the first link in this post, I need to update it to include the four most recent indy league signees (INF Hainley Statia, LHP Alan Williams, RHP Bradley Blanks, and RHP Mark Williams, who was the most recent signee -- it's been a while, c'mon Brewers, time for more!) Also, since we migrated away from the Yuku platform, some of the links to our archived thread in that article need to be adjusted.

The baseball stuff in the Post-Cresent profile is great, although they've gotten away from obtaining coaches' comments and scouting reports.

But then there's this:

"You're a broadcasting major."

Q: So why do they call you Bubba?

A: "They call me Bubba because I dip. I chew tobacco and I always put it in front so I look like Bubba from Forrest Gump. So they call me Bubba all the time. They also say I don't annunciate my words very well so they call me Boomhauer and mix that in there too, off 'King of the Hill.' So I've got a couple of nicknames bouncing around in there.''

***

A broadcasting major who doesn't annunciate words very well? Oops...

Sorry to be preachy, Mark, but lose the dip.

Otherwise, good luck, really enjoyed all the thoughts and stories you shared.

RHP Tommy Toledo was profiled more in-depth earlier in this thread, but MiLB has their own shorter notes article here.

Cream City Cables interviews RHP Tommy Toledo

CCC: I saw your dad the following day sitting behind home plate wearing the University of Toledo Sweatshirt.

TT: Yeah, my dad is a trip. He loves it. He loves everything about baseball, so he’s been following everybody on the team.

That's awesome.

Very sad day for T-Rats fans... If you've ever visited the stadium, you'd now Brock. The atmosphere will not be the same.

Timber Rattlers organization mourns the loss of Brock Calmes.

Even though we've already seen features on RHP Drew Gagnon this season, you'll still learn more when you read Bob Brainerd's Sports32 profile.
